Dr Ellie Vaughan

Email: e.vaughan@lancaster.ac.uk

Ellie was a PhD student within the LEC Reefs team from 2016 to 2021. She examined the localised impacts of nutrient runoff on the ecosystem state of Indo-Pacific coral reefs, captured through macroalgal stable isotopes. This Royal Society Studentship-funded PhD was supervised by Nick Graham (LEC), Gareth Williams (Bangor University), Peter Wynn (LEC) and Phil Barker (LEC), and involved collaborations with researchers from the Seychelles Fishing Authority and Le Centre de Recherches Insulaires et Observatoire de l’Environnement (CRIOBE) in Moorea, French Polynesia.

What’s next?

Ellie is currently working within the Cefas Coral Reef Group, conducting a systematic review of current knowledge around water quality and coral reef disease for the next phase of the JNCC-Cefas partnership with the six UK OTs.
