Molly’s research interests centre on the intricate social dynamics and networks of marine and freshwater animals. She is particularly interested in understanding how movement and behavioural ecology can be influenced by underlying factors such as oceanographic processes, and how these insights can inform future conservation efforts or offshore renewable energy installations which could impact vulnerable species. Currently, her PhD project plans to investigate the social networks of the critically endangered European Eel. By analysing a comprehensive ecological dataset derived from ongoing tagging efforts at Abberton Reservoir, Molly aims to uncover the relationships between individual behaviours and population dynamics, as well as providing valuable insights that can enhance conservation management strategies for this endangered species particularly in freshwater environments like Abberton Reservoir.
