Using ecophysiology and phylogeographic methods, she aims to examine the complexity of seagrass photosynthesis and photosynthetic diversity. Furthermore, at the core of her project she hopes to gain a better understanding of the physiological, cellular, and biochemical mechanisms and processes that underpin seagrass photosynthesis. Nyxon’s research interests include applying broad ecological and biogeochemical frameworks to address species-specific questions, enabling a mechanistic understanding of how individual taxa contribute to, and are shaped by, wider ecosystem processes.
